The Christmas Blessing

The moving sequel to The Christmas Shoes and like the first a tear jerker as well.

Nathan Andrews has grown up and is now a medical resident. After he loses a patient and old memories are triggered, the young doctor begins to rethink his career and takes a break from practicing medicine and moves back home with his father. There, he meets a beautiful, young teacher, Megan Sullivan, and falls in love with her. One of her students, Charlie Bennett, also wins a special place in Nathan's heart as he, like Nathan, lost his mother at an early age.

Returning home brings a whole new set of complications for Nathan. He realizes, with Megan's help, that he must let go of the past in order to embrace the present and move on with his life. Just as Nathan is settling in, his world begins to crumble when the lives of the woman he loves and an innocent young boy are in crisis. As a result Nathan finds himself questioning God, fate and the fragility of life, all the while hoping for a Christmas miracle.

Newsong like with the first has a song for this movie as well.

The Christmas Shoes

One of my favorite Christmas movies is The Christmas Shoes.

In this heartwarming Christmas drama, a workaholic attorney crosses paths with a young boy on Christmas Eve and rediscovers the true meaning of love, life, and the holiday season.

Rob Lowe and Kimberly Williams star in this 2002 made-for-TV Christmas tearjerker. When a young boy learns that his mother is dying, he struggles to scrape the money together to buy her a pair red shoes. In the process he changes the heart of a workaholic lawyer, who reevaluates his relationship with his estranged wife and daughter, and his own recently deceased mother.

I watch this movie probably two times a year. We have had several mothers watch this movie and brake down in tears, especially mothers who have sons. I have watched men who were close to their mother cry as well. As you can see almost everybody will tear up. so have plenty of tissues on hand.

Also this movie has a song , which I Love to listen to.

If you can't watch the movie at least listen to the song, click on the link. Let me know if it works.

Only exsisting Video of Confirmation

Found this video showing me getting confirmed.  I also found out that is the only existing video we ever took so it makes this one priceless.

I would have posted it Sunday which was the six month anniversary of my Confirmation, but I had other things on my mind I had to take care of.

I don't look all smiley due to annoyance of flash from camera's.
Then again we got great pictures too, all worth it!

Inside I was on Fire with the Holy Spirit!

What are you going to Do? Blog Post 2: You would be good as .vs. Have you considered

Everyone has an opinion they might not speak it but it's there. Then there is the ones that are really bold and tell me what I should do.

I use to think that they are telling me what to do.
I find that not true now they are are suggesting what I could do.

I will show you what I have been told and how I have reacted in the past and now in the present.

Religious Life

I have to laugh at this one the people that have suggested I enter a convent are Men. The one that does it the most is who you could call a lady's man. He would make an awesome Fr. Stan... he could easily grow the beard.

I think he just said that because he saw me reading and praying. We went to Youth 2000 and he kept asking me if I was going to Pray the Liturgy of the Hours with the religious, if I was going to eat with the religious or fast with the religious, which I more likely did at the time. At Youth 2000 he badgered me the most about if I was going to go to the meeting with the religious. From there whenever the religious was brought up he made sure I talked about it.

At the time I was cold and bitter and pretty much bit his head off whenever I talked to him about it. It wasn't that I did not want to join but that I was in a state of discernment of the religious life at the time. Now I would probably ask him about his vocation and even discern with him.

I can see his face now if he only knew of my Cell  (aka what I call my Room) I should post pictures of it. You should have seen the responses I saw on the faces of the priest who have seen it they loved my prayer shelf (especially Bishop Vann.)

I am not sure if people can come to the ceremony when you receive your vows, but if they could and I did join the religious life. I might send him an invitation just for laughs! I am totally open to religious life and would Joyfully accept that God Willing!

Marriage and Motherhood

Some people have told me that I would be a great mother and wife. I love children, some of the ones I have took care of will throw fits when I am not there. I have formed close bonds to a few that I will literly get emotional when I talk of them. I have heard people say " Mylea is going to be the next Michelle Duggar" I don't know about that even though I have had the wildest dream of having 25 kids only God willing. Everyone knows that to have a family you have to have a husband.

Just to answer any suspicious thoughts. * I don't have my eye on any man, don't have the desire to date, don't have a crush* I will explain in a future blog post what I think of Dating and Crushes. I have been told that I would more likely marry a man who is older than me. I won't list off what I desire in a future spouse but will admit that I have some high standards, which means that they would have to be mature, surprisingly I have discussed and researched the various age groups of men and how they mature. I should do a thesis on that?

What better person could there be than Our Lady to guard and lead my Future Spouse to me. I pray that The Blessed Mother will do just that God Willing!

Fashion

I have considered going into the field of Fashion and starting my own clothing line of modest apparel. I considered even more than ever after last month 's"Modesty Chain Reaction of Emails"  doing just that. But then the profession is ran by people of low moral standards compared to mine. And I hear they are paid Poverty Income.

Teaching

I have been told that I would be a good teacher. I could probably not teach in public schools due to not teaching about God. Then again I could be a Sister who is a teacher. I have been told that the way I explain things is amazing. I am not writitng it off  but will have to get my own education out of the way first.

Psychiatry

To some this might be shocking to know that I would look into this.

I probably know more about the profession than the doctors.

I would like to change the spell binding system that is all about drugging and labeling. How do I know, because I have researched and experienced. The traumatic things drugs, counseling, mental wards, labeling and the list goes on... *groan* I feel that my heart might just be in this profession God Willing!

Counseling

If I perused the previous one I would want to get Counseling credentials. I am getting good at being the listener and not the talker at times. I will always have two cents to say... it just might not come out all the time.

Writing

I Love to write, it shows! Wither or not I am doing this blog, writing a book, or writing for a company. I will always write for fun!

I have mentioned now several types of careers that people think I should consider. Along what I have considered and discerning at the present time. As I said in the other blog post for this series. I will do it if God calls me to it. It needs to lead me closer to God . So thirty something years from now I might just be Joyfully doing one of the above all in God's Time!

Word's to Live By Lou Tice

Yesterday, I recieved an email from a friend of mine and loved it so much that I thought I would share it with You!

Try this do what it says in this piece and if you like share the results with someone I would Love to see myself.

I will be working on mine!

WORDS TO LIVE BY.....Winner's Circle Network with Lou Tice - 12/5/11 - "What You've Got Going"

Do you realize just how much you've got going for yourself?

You know, something I do a lot for my grandchildren is remind them of how much they have going for themselves.  I remind them of how much they are loved, how quickly they learn new things, how much fun they are to be around, how cooperative and helpful they are. I help them concentrate and focus on the plusses in their lives, because I know that is a very useful habit to have.

How about you?

How long has it been since you've taken a few minutes to list your accomplishments, your assets, the things that bring you pleasure and make you happy?

You know, happiness is a here-and-now situation, and there is always plenty of reason to feel good.

Are you proud of your family?

Are you managing to pay your bills, maybe even save a little?

Are you reasonably healthy, with the use of all your senses?

Do you have friendships you treasure, work you enjoy, time to do things you like to do?

Make a list of the plusses in your life and share them with someone close to you. Let yourself feel pride and pleasure in your accomplishments. Let yourself feel happy.

And like the children's song says, "If you're happy and you know it, then your face is gonna show it!" Smile! You're alive and kicking! Enjoy yourself in the present, the only time you really have!

What are you Going to Do? Blog Post 1: Being Asked The "BIG" Question

I am asked quite often, what I am going to do when I graduate.

I used to hate it when someone asked and would get so upset I would go on for days causing great distress in the family and on myself, but as I get used to people asking me. I look at it as a way of them wanting to communicate with me.

The only way they might have known how to talk to teens is by asking them simple questions that do not take long to answer. They most likely have not talked to a teen that tries to initiate the conversation. This saddens me greatly to know that my generation does not take much effort to answer or speak to their elders.

Now that I am learning why they want to know, I try to leave a lasting impression on them that does not give teens a bad name *wiping brow* I can already tell I have my work cut out for me.

Therefore, here is what I try to do… which I did at the Christmas party yesterday, when a woman asked me…

Women: What do you plan on doing?
Mylea: I plan to do whatever God has in store for me.
Women: *Raises her eyebrows, smiles and sits down*

I find this to be a reasonable and logical response to people.

After saying that Mommy leaned over and whispered into my ear saying with a smile on her face “that was a good one Mylea” I replied “that was the first thing that popped into my head and the most likely to be truthful and made logical sense.

“Another Lady at the table heard and said, “Yes, that was a good one” I explained that whatever I chose needs to lead me closer to God. He will show me that right path when the time comes. The entire table had all eyes on me when one of the women made the comment of saying as she laughed, “She is so eccentric!”

Finding Joy in such frustrating questions of the past is more common for me!

My next blog post will be about different Career paths I am discerning and other people’s opinions of what I should do.

Christmas Play's of the Past

It was around this time in the past that as a child, I would partake in the Christmas Plays at ICCS, the neighborhood children and Friday Night Family Group.

The first one was at ICCS; I was 6 years old and was the lead sheep. I think I did well for a lead sheep considering all I did was lay around and wear cotton balls all over me. I almost wish I had a picture to show you. We sang Christmas Carols that year too and like bad experiences, that I find embarrassing, one of them happened that night. As I was singing, I spaced out and had one of my many staring spells of the day. I don’t know how long it lasted but when I snapped out of it, I was the only one on stage and the entire student body and their families were looking at me waiting to get off stage. Now I wonder why my health has caused me such great setbacks in the past.

I participated in two more Christmas programs at ICCS, before we started homeschooling. I always liked the live nativity they had there and wanted to be part of it.

One year I gathered all of the kids on my street and we put on a Christmas play for our parents to watch. We rehearsed for days. Again, something happened all of the kids froze up and got stage fright. Me, being the oldest I did the impossible I put on a one Woman play act that day. I did well considering that my cast and crew fell through.

The last of the Christmas Plays I put on was at our Friday Night Group. I did probably five of them and took charge of two of them. The last one was the biggest and well constructed. I wrote the script, gathered all the props and costumes, and even got someone to play the guitar for the songs. Everything went well except, I butted heads with the producer (we were both Control Freaks at the time.)

Again, if it was not health or a one-woman act play it was getting theatrical. I had the script based on scripture and I memorized all of the lines for Cousin Elizabeth. I rehearsed until I could say everything in my sleep (I think I still have it memorized to this day.) The scene came and I said my lines, until half way through I brought it up a notch and started crying and jumping up and down. The girl who was playing Mary started to giggle, but stayed in character. People looked serious and thought that was planned. When I was done with my scene, I went back stage and got ready for my character (I played two or three different people.)

The rest of the play went well and the Christmas Carols went as planned. I was praised for having such a dramatic piece and someone mentioned that Elizabeth might have actually jumped up and down and cried tears of Joy when seeing Mary. I heard that someone actually taped the play. I would probably like to see it just for laughs. Until this day, everyone laughs about my dramatic performance.

Now I wonder why I am so animated, it must come naturally.

How is that for one “Happy Coconut”
