Dressing Modestly Blog Post 3: Tweleve Personal Rules for Me to Follow

I try to look over the body and try to imagine what would be modest

1. I try to make sure my hair is clean and brushed it usually depends on my mood for how I fix it.

2. I wear no makeup the only thing that might come close to it is “Lip Balm” that looks like “Lip Gloss”

3. The shoulders must be covered.

4. The lowest the neckline can be two widths of the finger.

5. I prefer my sleeves to be to the pit of the elbow but that is hard to do so in between the shoulder and elbow would do if I were desperate for a shirt.

6. The shirt must not be too thin in that case; I should not see my straps to my undergarments.

7. The shirt must not be to tight fitting or not too baggy. In addition, it must cover my bottom. When I bend over it must not show any excessive skin.

8. My skirt must ride on my natural waistline, which is usually where the belly button is.

9. The skirt should not be a see through one and unless necessary a slip can be added.

10. The shortest my skirt can be is calf-length or when I sit down it must cover my knees.

11. The skirt can have no slit on the side or back.

12. My shoes must have no heels.

This is just a list of rules on my personal standards for me to follow.

Try an Experiment: make a list of rules for you to follow they can be of your personal standards. Who knows your list might give me a few ides to add to mine.

Dressing Modestly Blog Post 2: Shopping for Clothing/Sewing My Clothing

Shopping For Clothing

This might be shocking, but I HATE shopping for Clothes. Yep, it is true

Five Reasons why I HATE Shopping

  1. It is very time consuming.
  2. You have to go to several stores.
  3. When I try them on, I cringe and think who wore this last (even with store bought clothing).
  4. They are always pricey except for sales, which usually has a catch.
  5. Most of the time they do not even carry what are up to my standards.

Now there are times… (Gulp) when I have to… like Shirts…. Nevertheless, I Live.

Sewing My Clothing

I have been waiting to do a blog post on sewing. Why, because I LOVE to sew!

For about a 1 1/2 I have been sewing. I have made various pieces of clothing.

My first article of clothing was a pair of shorts I have only wore them a few times.

My next one was a shirt.

Followed by six skirts, three with zippers, and three with elastic.

I have also made my Confirmation dress, which is the nicest piece of clothing I own.

I am in the process of making another shirt.

I try to sew as much of my clothing as I can.

In the Future, I will be making
My own PATTERNS… soon enough.

That way I can design clothing to my liking and standards.

My next blog post will be titled “Twelve Rules on how I Dress Modestly”

Dressing Modestly: Blog Post 1 How I came to Dress this Way

I would have gotten this posted sooner today, but we had the air conditioner people come over. I think they did a good job they had to put a intake vent in near my bedroom door so I was trapped for a little bit. The two young men who did it were in their early twenties and very polite when they were done one of them even offered to do my chores ha ha what I mean is he offered to vacuum up the mess for me, but mommy said that I supposed to do it. Over all they did a good job and now whenever I type, my hands will not get cold. So onto the post for today.

Those of you who know me well know I have strict and high standards Modesty wise (I actually have high standards in pretty much everything). I will be doing a series of Blog Posts on Dressing Modestly.

How I came to Dress this way

I dressed in pants and shorts from birth to ten years, but once I was exposed to other people who dressed modestly and I started to do research about modest dress according to church teachings. I started to think about it. I looked at the way Our Lady dressed. I strived to dress as her. I went into a length of two years to try to change my dress I slowly changed from pants and shorts to skirts and dresses.

It was not until one day I went up the street with my mother for a few last minute things at the grocery store. I was wearing a very tight fitting top with no under garment underneath my shirt and short shorts. One of the employees a man in his twenties I suppose gave me a dirty look and walked off. It scared me, made me think twice about my dress and made me want to dress modestly even the more.

Increasing my Standards

By the age of twelve, I was wearing skirts and dresses all the time I began to raise my standards longer skirts and dresses, no slits. For shirts, not as tight and if I could help it longer sleeves. Actually, I increase my standards every year.

Making a Promise to our Lady
I made a promise to our Lady that I would not ever wear a pair of pants again. To me, they feel weird and they seem to not give me room to move. I do not own a single pair of pants. I do own a pair of shorts, but do not wear them.

What I Believe

I have always been taught that men are Visual and that if we show too much skin they will sin. Something women do not want to be held accountable. In addition, we need to focus on a woman’s heart and soul rather less her body.

My next blog Post will be on “Shopping for Clothing and Sewing Clothing”
